CNC Milling Machines vs. Drilling or Cutting Machines
If you have ever wondered about what a CNC Milling machine is, then you are at the right place. Many people get confused by what a CNC Milling machine is. The reasons for the confusion is that its construction and working is similar to drilling and cutting machines.
The main difference between CNC Milling machine and others like drilling or cutting machines is the extent to which they can perform their specific actions. A drilling machine will be able to drill a hole on the Z axis i.e. a straight hole while a cutting machine will cut the structure horizontally or vertically. The CNC Milling machine is able to work in multiple axis. It can work on horizontal, vertical, straight (Z axis) and even diagonally as well. As you can imagine, the CNC Milling machines are quite impressive and you can make pretty much any type of structure and shape with the help of these CNC Milling machines.
This picture was taken from Ezis Craft’s page “CNC Frēzēšana“, it stands for CNC Milling.
The CNC Milling machines that work on more than 3 axis usually require CAD Programming because of the fact that the shapes get quite complicated while working with multiple axis. And that is why these are known as the Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machines. These CNC Milling machines are of great importance in creating complex structure which would otherwise be impossible with manual drilling and cutting. Even holding the part down is quite complex thing to do, but lucky enough vacuum ejectors have been invented to make this a little bit easier.
